Healthy Minds On Mushrooms

Prompted by “How Psilocybin Improves Your Brain”: http://reset.me/story/how-psilocybin-improves-your-brain/

“Psilocybin frees the brain from its rigid patterns and ego-driven assumptions, and allows the user to look at the world — and him or herself — from a whole new perspective.”

In my last post, I wrote…

“…taking distinctions too seriously is the fundamental problem in science and health. Psychedelics modulate informational energy in so many surprising ways, the user cannot help but break away from rigid distinction to experience modulating energy to the richest degree of possibility (loosening up the mind like an athlete loosening up stiff muscles for injury risk reduction and optimal performance — i.e. ‘untether themselves from any particular thought’).”

Being “set in your ways” is unhealthy (like overly tense muscles that eventually become useless with deep age), and that setting comes from taking distinctions too seriously.

More highlights from the prompting piece…

“A study published last year in the Journal of the Royal Society found that psilocybin actually changes the brain’s organizational framework and allows information to pass from section to section in new or underused neural networks, bypassing the old, well-trodden pathways.”

“The new pathways help explain why psilocybin is useful in combating mental disorders like depression and PTSD. By building new highways across the brain, the chemical allows people to shake lose their old assumptions and stimulus-response reactions.”

“‘People who get into depressive thinking, their brains are overconnected,’ researcher David Nutt told Psychology Today. ‘We think the dampening down of that circuit allows people to escape from being chained to that thinking process.'”

“The impact is long lasting, as well. A Johns Hopkins study found that a majority of subjects who took psilocybin had personality changes that lasted for over a year. Almost all participants in another Hopkins psilocybin study said the experience was one of the most meaningful of their lives.”

“The core feature of the mystical experience is this strong sense of the interconnectedness of all things…”

When perceiving reality as an ocean of energy that each one of us is seamlessly connected within (i.e. each one of us is a subjectively defined set of energy currents) — which matches perfectly with mainstream science, but distinctions are still taken too seriously there — the result is an astonishingly fresh sensation of living. You’re not just a collection of cells, unless you apply excessive distinction to form that conclusion. You’re modulating energy with no boundaries (one with reality itself), which you can feel by unforcibly turning down the ‘distinction volume knob’ (i.e. letting go to rest your mind). Death is such a distinction. Its removal means that survival is fine to max out your experience of ups and downs in this lifetime by healthily setting distinctions to form uniqueness, but not taken too seriously (e.g. selfishly) in fear of death being the end of personal experience for you and your loved ones. Your lifetime is one complex wave of energy, which is then basically followed by an infinite number of them for worst through best. There’s so much more to say on this point, but I leave that for your thoughts.

That may seem solely mystical and spiritual, but it fits sober reasoning as well, and that reasoning is a necessary part of the bridge to the most prompt recognition of legality for this wonderful psychedelic (when used properly) that remains sadly off the table in terms of such legality these days. Instead of adding a continuous public press (in the court of public opinion) against Commerce Clause power being blatantly corruptly leveraged for the war on some drugs, too many people prefer to ignore that legitimate press (one especially quickly and powerfully exposing Republican hypocrisy on the matter to their correction or embarrassment) for the torturously slow and highly questionable judicial path to preserve traditional (so not actually progressive) political leftism — scientific constitutionalism is actual progressivism honoring political leftists’ popular intentions and much more (and would logically put an abrupt stop to this psychedelic madness against healthier minds, so public safety).

I am an honest freak (or reasonably responsibly balanced "misfit", if you prefer) of an artist working and resting to best carefully contribute towards helping society. Too many people abuse reasoning (e.g. 'partial truth = whole truth' scam), while I exercise reason to explore and express whole truth without any conflict-of-interest -- all within a sometimes offbeat style of psychedelic artistry.
