HUSH for Rush

While driving my 2002 Passat, a good connection for my external audio device remains unreachable (the cassette-to-1/8″ device is noisy and adds too much minor burden to my already responsibly stress-filled life). As such, when I visit one of my best friends to go food shopping, I tend to listen to conservative talk radio, and that tends to land me on a sound wave forming the voice of Rush Limbaugh.

Being more of an issue-centric man, and not a vague political ideology one, I simply absorb the “red team” (i.e. Republican/conservative) perspective as projected by arguably the most popular cheerleader for that team, metaphorically chew on it a bit, then spit out the part that I find distasteful (basically the ‘morality unjustly against liberty’ part). I will offer more on ‘team equality’ (team blue constituting the political left) versus the already introduced ‘team morality’ in future posts, but this series of posts focuses upon one poor call to Mr. Limbaugh’s show regarding one of my favorite plants.

A self-proclaimed “constitutionalist libertarian” spanning 26 years in age calls in support of cannabis use, but then sadly fails to be convincing. His call pressed upon the ad break, so Mr. Limbaugh’s abrupt request atypically using the term “dude” (easily assumed as spoken in a mocking tone) began the response. After the ad break, the 26-year-old “conlib” played horribly into Rush’s hands (that caller even delivered a cringe-making irritation over negating his ‘right to get high’) and led to a crushing ‘game over’ for this poor cannabis use proponent.

If you want to persuade “team red” to support cannabis use, you need to plan your approach very carefully, and then express excellently without compromise. There is a powerful way to respectfully slam “team red” into hypocrisy and wrongfulness for disagreeing with you on the cannabis front, and this series of posts paves that way. After all, there are plenty of “blue team” supporters for ending cannabis prohibition, so dominantly persuading “team red” righteously means ‘game over’ for another demonstrably failed prohibition (and the outrageously unethical and excessive suffering necessitated by it without any proven effect against cannabis abuse).

While I would never ‘vulnerably look up to Mr. Limbaugh on his show to make a point’ (like looking up to someone at a public podium capable of instantly dodging and spinning a response without adequate rebuttal) to give him the opportunity to proudly and seemingly respectably spew any verbal garbage on the topic at my expense, I am overjoyed to use the persistence of language here at my humble journal (i.e. my public “podium”) to make an honest case against Mr. Limbaugh’s highly questionable conclusion on the matter.

HUSH is an ironic acronym that I am also metaphorically chewing on a bit (enjoyably so), and decided to publicly test it here. Standing for “Help Us Stress Health”, I simply could not resist smoothly lining up my call to action on behalf of Stress Health to hopefully begin our wonderful journey towards truly convincing Mr. Limbaugh to exorcise the “public morality” demon within him and morally embrace the actual truth of the cannabis matter (largely that there is no public morality in anyone, though especially a self-proclaimed American conservative, embracing cannabis prohibition).

I am an honest freak (or reasonably responsibly balanced "misfit", if you prefer) of an artist working and resting to best carefully contribute towards helping society. Too many people abuse reasoning (e.g. 'partial truth = whole truth' scam), while I exercise reason to explore and express whole truth without any conflict-of-interest -- all within a sometimes offbeat style of psychedelic artistry.
